It's a soul sucking place. Or more accurately, it lacks a soul. It is our reigning capital of Greed and essentially an old-school gold rush. Most people are there to make the quick buck. Ethics are lacking. It's as close to a modern wild west as you can get. And alot of people there are in a prison of greed and depression.

But yes, I survived Ft. MacMurray.

When idiots elect

While sitting in my car waiting for drive-thru line to progress and reading a book, I come to the stunning realization that I don't think "Rock the Vote" and other such 'encourage the voter' campaigns are a good idea.

Nothing like a country of mindless drones who listen to the little TV goddess in their heads as they mark their scantron.

Maybe it would be better if they didn't vote at all, and only the people who try to understand and affect change were making the decisions.

Somewhat heretical in the face of traditional democracy, but it was the thought of the moment.
